Preschool / Head Start
Salina Public Schools is committed to providing the highest quality early learning experiences to families in our community. We utilize federal and state grants to provide FREE preschool opportunities to qualifying families. To be eligible, families must meet certain income and residency requirements.
Preschools are located at all eight elementary schools and Heartland Early Education. Heartland also offers Head Start preschool in Ellsworth and Enterprise. Our locations are inclusive of all students and receive financial support through At-risk, Head Start, and Special Education. Students’ placement in elementary school is determined by home address.
All families who meet the following requirements are encouraged to apply:
* Child is three years old by August 31 and is not eligible for
kindergarten (five years old by August 31).
* Family resides within the USD 305 boundaries OR Head Start service area.
