Delayed Start Option Created for USD 305

Should it be needed, a delayed start will now be an option instead of cancelling a whole day at Salina Public Schools. This option could be used if snowy roads could be cleared given a few hours or if wind chills are too low during early morning hours but temperatures are expected to warm up within a few hours.

USD 305 will make the decision regarding delayed start or school cancellation by 5 a.m.

If USD 305 Public schools are cancelled, all classrooms at the Heartland building are also cancelled.

If USD 305 uses a 2 hour delayed start the following will happen at the Heartland building:

  • Full Day and School Day Early Head Start classrooms will open at 9:15 a.m. – Breakfast will not be served
  • School Day School Year preschool classrooms will start at 10 a.m. – Breakfast will not be served and buses will not run for AM pick up. Regular bus route will be completed for take home.
  • Part Day AM preschool - No classes will be held
  • Part Day PM preschool classrooms will begin at regular time (12:15 p.m.) Buses will run a modified mid-day route to pick up Part Day PM students. Regular routes will be completed for take home.

As always, the final decision about your students’ safety is yours. If you choose to keep your student home when inclement weather occurs, please call the classroom to let them know your child will be absent.
